I agree. This will cause the devs to get angry at the improper districts, and eventually will force them to make rp districts.

There's already been a town selection. International 1 is the unofficial roleplaying district. Lion's Arch is generally very busy, sometimes with groups of up to 15 roleplayers.

None. What's the point in having a "role-playing town" since the entire game is role playing? You only come into town to get quests, missions, rewards, etc.

Is it me, or do good roleplayers avoid local chat? I spend most of my time in International districts, so I occasionally run into role-players. None of them ever mentions any name, place or activity pertaining to Tyria, all they're ever doing is discussing who knows who ("I don't believe I've ever met X..."), who is interested in who ("I believe Y has taken a liking to me..."), and how beautiful the other is ("I assure you, it is not flattery!"). It's soft-cybering that could've taken place in any world, fantasy or not.

Ofcourse people are free to do as they please, but if they do it in local, they're opening themselves up to mockery, especially if it's only this kind of in-character dating they're doing, and some of the RP'ing is so hilariously bad that it would really be better kept in private (so you're not shouting your private conversations all over town as automatically happens with local talk - that alone is bad role-playing right there). The best I've seen so far:

RP'er 1: "May I ask good sir, how old are you?"
RP'er 2: "I have seen twenty-four changes of the seasons"
Non-RP'er: "So you're six years old?"

95% don't role play, eh? Ok, all of you that think we need role playing towns, districts, what ever... need to just stop. These ideas aren't cool and they aren't necessary. Play the game like regular, some what normal people!

Role playing has a legitimate spot here, as in any game with some of the role playing aspects of GW. No, it's not an MMORPG or even a good old fashioned role playing game like Neverwinter Nights. Still, what is your objection to RP areas, JohnnyLange? If they are mainly confining themselves to one spot...meh.

I role play but NOT in GuildWars. It, to me anyhow, just doesn't lend itself very well to it. But I think it keeps game interest up for people who might otherwise leave after they finish PvE. (I might suspect that most RPers are PvE players....maybe? )

This 95%er doesn't get it...

If International 1 is already the unofficial RP district - which i assume the 5% of GW's RPers already know about - why bother petitioning for an RP 'only' district when you've already got one?

I've never, ever seen actual RP in an online RPG. o_O I'll have to visit International sometime.

...I hope Silmor is exaggerating, but if not it'll be hella entertaining.

Normal people who look for runes to imbed in armor and give them greater strength? How does this qualify as normal.

Every person who plays this game even once puts themselves in an artificial world for different reasons and to varying degrees. Most people who play don't immerse themselves much further than the numbers involved.

Some of us, enough to justify a RP district according to the sticky, would like to see a zone where when somebody asks you where you're from the answer of Ashford is easily accepted.

RP doesn't mean talking like Don Quixote or a TV Evangelist, it simply means acting out your character's personality instead of just your character's stats and skills. It means generally avoiding (but of course, not completely refraining) from complaining about your little brother or talking about new movies that are coming out. It means that a discussion on skills and attributes leans more toward descriptions and less towards simply naming what you do and giving the numbers.

And it means (this is my favorite part) that it may be possible to have a discussion or say things in All Chat without getting drowned out amidst WTB WTS WTB WTS.

i want to filter all the chilldish teens out ...

If they make RP districts , pls make m as high as possible like district 100 orzo o.0
Since most of the time the low numbers are the places with most ppl
And although its fun to watch ppl make a fool of themselves (imo that is : )
I rather have them somewhere were there is less chance i meet them

agree , thats why we need RP dists , so only who wants to rp goes there ...

if there is a RP dists , you dont need them to be 100 , they will start at 1 , and only add more if it gets full ... as all the other kinds of dists ..

WOW! thats the best explination I heard so far. I'm not a RPer, nor do I laugh at or ruin other peoples RP experience. Do it however you would like, if it makes you happy and the game a bit more enjoyable, by all means continue. As a matter of fact if you do get an Official RP district I'll even shoot over and try my hand at it. Hey you got to start somewhere.

And for the rest of you dowing it, I have never done it, and really are not too intrested in it. But one day I will get board and will find a group to allow me to try my hand at this NEW IDEA. Basically what I'm saying is, dont say anything negititive until you try it. And if you dont like it, fine, shut up for the others that enjoy it. I may not like your hobbie, but I sure as heck aint going to say your dumb or immiture for doing it. We all like diffrent things and play diffrently.

So basically yes I see the need for a specific RP district, if only because someone is asking for it. COMMON A-net, LISTEN TO YOUR PEOPLE!

Have fun ya'll. I might be seeing some of you later in RP

lol So you're saying 95% of the people you see didn't roleplay to the part they are now? I don't think only 5% made it there just by being rushed This question is completly useless, this is a Role Playing Game (RPG), and it's all about roleplaying. The district you're thinking about is completly useless if you ask me.

And about the roleplayers avoiding local chat. Well, I also avoid it. Always when I try to make a team for a quest or something I end up with a noobish team anyway, I'd much rather start my own team. Maybe it's a little bit stupid to avoid local chat, but I'm avoiding it to avoid a sucky team causing me to do the quest again after a nice failure..

I did International 1 the other night. There was one french girl there...lol. I did my first two lvl 20's with nothing but henchmen...doing RP'ing... All three ascention missions with henchmen...

Of course, with the new builds, that's no longer possible and the game has forced the RP'ers to rely on other humans, most of which are yahoo kamikazi's who love to agro everything on the screen and then lead them all right back to you... hmmm... sorry... Just venting....
